pepsi.txt I used to own a small imageboard (4chan type website) back in 2016. It had very few users, though, all of them were active. So, despite everyone being anonymous, we knew each other very well. One of the users had only three personality features -- he was Polish, he like Tetris and he liked making ARGs. One day, another ARG popped up on the general board and since I was pretty bored I decided to try and solve it. Frankly, it wasn't anything special, but it was stll beyond what I was capable of creating. I was the only person really participating in this particular ARG, which involved looking for hidden QR codes in pics, opening images in text editors, decrypting messages, etc. After about two hours of work, I had a random jumble of letters and numbers which I just couldn't figure out what to do with. I posted the jumble in the ARG's thread hoping for a hint from the Polish user. A few minutes passed and he replied with something along the lines of "you don't know about the largest digital video game shop?" Then it hit me -- it was a Steam gift code. I fired up Steam, for a couple of minutes tried to find where I could redeem a gift code, found it the form, pasted the code and... found out that the code was invalid. I screencapped the error message and posted it to the thread. I was waiting for the Pole to say that he made a mistake and that he'd send me the correct one. Instead, I was greeted by the Dutch user (who we called Pepsi because the Dutch logo had the same color scheme) laughing at me because he'd immediately recognized that it was a gift code when I posted it and had used it himself. This was followed by every single user on the site manically making fun of me but also sarcastically calling Pepsi a thief. I was pretty pissed, but the Irish user we had felt bad and gifted me game he didn't need, so alls well that ends well.
